McDonald’s Officially Adding Secret Menu Items Starting 1.31.2022
McDonald’s recently announced that they will be making secret menu items an official thing that you can order. The secret menu at MacDon’s goes back a long time.
In my day, about 10 years ago, I fondly remember joking with my buddies about clogged arteries as we jammed McChicken’s in between McDouble’s to create the McGangBang. Or, as its more HR-friendly name goes, the McNasty.
I don’t know how long exactly the secret menu at McDonald’s has been around, but it’s definitely been more than a decade.
The main sandwiches you’ll be able to get are:
The Hash Brown McMuffin
This secret menu item looks the tastiest as far as we’re concerned. Frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me if this becomes a regular breakfast menu item. Afterall, this type of experimenting is how things like the Big Mac and Egg McMuffin were probably originally created. Even though franchisees were mostly credited with creating those, their customers helped by buying them and giving the sandwiches the stamp of approval.
You can create this sandwich by putting a hash brown patty in between the top bun and the egg of a sausage Mcmuffin.
The Crunchy Double
You make a crunchy double by putting Chicken McNuggets underneath the bottom patty in a double cheeseburger. Looks like 4 or 5 are the magic number, because any more would make the sandwich lopsided.
The Land, Air & Sea
This one, I gotta say, feels like a little too much. Why? Because it combines three separate sandwiches. You get a McChicken, stacked on a Big Mac, stacked on a Filet-O-Fish. It’s definitely too tall to fit into your mouth, so you’ll probably need to tackle this McDonald’s secret menu item by strategically biting into it at different angles.
Look, from eating a few McNasty’s before, I can tell you that just the Big Mac and McChicken will be a challenge (I know, I know, technically that was a McDouble but they’re pretty close).
The Surf + Turf
The Surf and Turf actually looks pretty good. You’ll essentially be putting a Filet-O-Fish in between a McDouble. Sounds good to me! Based on the picture that’s on the McD’s corporate site, it looks like the top bun for the fish sandwich gets thrown out.
Final Thoughts – McDonald’s Secret Menu
Marketing will kick into high gear for these menu items with TV commercials starting on 1/31/2022. I’m a little bummed out that the ‘Ganger and that one sandwich that stacks like 9 meat patties for a super burger aren’t on the menu, but it makes sense. The McNasty just isn’t family-friendly and the multi-meat patty burger isn’t practical. The ones that they are bringing in look pretty good, though, so I’m excited to see what happens and if that hashbrown one sticks.
