The Best Summer Break Spots in Chicago
Summer’s finally here and the air is filled with jesting energy and good-natured vivacity. I don’t know about you, but I had to pass on the summer courses and instead, focus on independence- with of course some pleasure. With my time, I’ve found all the activities to keep any person occupied for the still popping 2019 summer.
1. FOSTER BEACH (W Foster Ave, Chicago, IL 60640)
When it comes to all the sandy selections Chicago has, 31st Street Beach has been #1 on my list for a while, but I must say, the intimacy of Foster keeps conversation convivial and the views stay skillfully intact.
2. JAKE’S PUB (2932 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60657)
Ok, are you really a Chicago native if you haven’t been to Jake’s? Jokes aside, this spot is just the right amount of grungy and boogie. Enjoy yourself with free pool, darts, artwork, and jams given by the bartenders themselves.
3. VU ROOFTOP BAR (133 E Cermak Rd, Chicago, IL 60616)
Ideal for night owls, this newly renovated space is perfect for a girl’s night out or a first date. Up to you which game to play, but whichever dice you choose, VU’s Rooftop and Lounge and their selection of drinks will sure to keep you inspired.
4) EAST ROOM (2354 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647)
I’ve heard many beautiful things about East Room before, but it wasn’t until one night of solo exploration where I finally saw the freedom this venue had. If you’re looking for the best place to dance, this is the spot.
5) CHOP SHOP (2033 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647)
Music lovers unite! Not only is this one of the largest concert halls in the Wicker Park area, but this venue also invites some of the best underground musicians each week and weekend.
6) VAN’S HOUSE OF WALLS (113 N Elizabeth St, Chicago, IL 60607)
Experience off the wall enjoyment with this low-key spot in Chicago’s Westside. Learn how to skateboard during the day or come experience the night with free for all skating competitions and rock music. There’s also an open bar and decent artwork to admire.
7) CBD KRATOM (3434 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60657)
Last but not least, this new space in Chicago’s Lakeview area features some of the best CBD products and other supplements that might initiate some needed summertime bliss. (If you tell the owner you were born on 4/20, he’ll give you the best reaction).
