Lately, I’ve been buying a lot of different nutritional products. Those have included different protein powders and bars. Most of them have been fine taste-wise and a lot of the powders have the same amount of protein or similar amount.

I try to buy ones with mostly natural ingredients. Back in college, I definitely did not do that and put away my fair share of EAS shakes. That was the cheapest powder available at the time and it’s been since discontinued. Many of the ingredients were chemically sounding.

This box of Elevation Functional Protein Bars looks pretty solid, though. Let’s dig into the nutrition facts.

Nutrition Facts

Elevation Functional Protein Bar

Probably the most important part of any nutrition bar for most people, these nutrition facts can tell us a lot. Each box only has four bars in it. That’s not a ton compared with what I’m used to.

However, 1 bar does pack 250 calories in it. That’s way more than the average protein bar that I eat, which is usually around 170 calories.

These are also keto bombs based on the fat content. That could be good or bad depending on what your fitness goals are. This Elevation Functional Protein Bar is the first one that I’ve ever tried that has a lot of fat, so, it should be interesting.

You get 20% of your daily saturated fat content and 13% of your overall fat with one of these. There isn’t much cholesterol and there’s 13% of your daily sodium recommendation.

This bar is light on the carbs and heavy on the protein. There’s 24 whole grams of it in there.

You won’t find any vitamin D in this, however, you will get 15% of your daily calcium that you need. There’s also 10% of your daily iron.

The ingredients are almost all natural sounding. You’ve got some soy protein, whey protein, peanut butter, caramel, white chocolate, turmeric, guarana and sea salt. There’s some maltitol, not sure what that is but otherwise everything else sounds good.

I like that there’s turmeric in there. For a while, I used to make this really gross tasting tea that was basically turmeric and apple cider vinegar in water. No matter how good it was for my gut, it tasted pretty rough. Anyhow, back to talking Elevation Functional Protein Bar.

The Review

This bar surprised me, but not in the ways you might expect. Okay, maybe in some of the ways you’d expect.

It was a little bit tough to get out of the wrapper and bite into, to tell you the truth. It was very dense. That being said, it was also pretty good. I had it with some walnuts, almond milk, and a banana together in a bowl.

All the fat and protein hitting at once, especially for the first meal of the day, was pretty tasty. There’s not a bunch of sugar in the Elevation Functional Protein Bar like some energy bars have, but, it was sweet enough anyway. Ultimately, this thing was good and natural.
