You can always bring the s’mores to the fire, but you can’t always bring the fire to the s’mores. If you’re trapped inside during a global pandemic and you still want the melty, chocolately goodness of a s’more but can’t build a log cabin on your living room floor to do it, this s’mores dip recipe can offer a great alternative that the whole gang can get in on.

Maybe that person with the sweet tooth will prove me wrong, but with 12 Hershey chocolate bars going in, I doubt it.
Our ingredients all came from Aldi (and it turned out great) but you can find all of them on Amazon, too, which will let you stay fully secluded and not get exposed to any global pandemics (if we have that sort of thing happening, cough cough).

Let’s get started.
First, plug in and start heating up your slow cooker. Turn it to “high” heat.
Then, grab your first bag of mini marshmallows.
Nutrition facts for those.
I don’t think my mom ever cut marshmallows up for me, but I also don’t remember anything from age six and under.
It even comes with a recipe for rice crispy treats!
You’ll also need a 1 cup measuring cup.
Tear open the marshmallow bag for the s’mores dip recipe.
Scoop up 1 cup of marshmallows, try not to spill too many.
Pour the first cup of marshmallows into the slow cooker.
Establish an initial base layer for the s’mores dip recipe.
The first cup of marshmallows will be used to create a base layer in the slow cooker for everything else.
If you try to melt the initial marshmallow layer in the microwave first with a bowl or something, it will probably blow up. See the peep example for proof:
That guy didn’t make it out alive.
Make sure to smooth out the first bunch of marshmallows on the bottom for an even melt.
Cover them up with a lid.
Set a timer for 20 minutes and let the marshmallows sit in the slow cooker to melt into that first layer.
It should fog up, that’s fine.
That amount of fog will be showing up at about the ten minute mark in the s’mores dip recipe.
Grab your spatula.
The marshmallows may not look very melted, but those should be pretty glooped together and easily mix when you stick the spatula in there.
Mix the first-layer marshmallows together and make them as smooth as possible.
It should look something like the marshmallow layer above for this s’mores dip recipe.
Grab a spoon to clean off the spatula. If you’re making this during a viral outbreak, no licking the spatch.
There will inevitably be some chunks of marshmallow on the spatula.
Use a small plate to set these on so the counter doesn’t get sticky.
Grab the first pack of Hershey’s chocolate bars.
Don’t look at the nutrition facts.
Ingredients for the milk chocolate we’ll be using in these s’mores.
They forgot the slow cooker s’mores dip recipe!
Grab one bar of the Hershey’s chocolate.
Tear it open on the cutting board. You won’t really be cutting it, but, this makes things a little cleaner for the s’mores dip recipe.
Break the bar up into four pieces of the three micro bars.
Start to lay down the chocolate into the slow cooker for the first s’mores dip layer.
Lay the chocolate in a circle for the s’mores dip.
Get another cup of marshmallows.
Pour the second cup of marshmallows into the slow cooker. You should notice the first layer of chocolate melting already.
Use the metal spoon to smooth this layer out.
Grab two more bars of the Hershey’s Chocolate. You’ll be layering these gradually in the slow cooker if you didn’t guess that already. This is a multi-level s’mores dip.
Break up the two bars into eight mini ones.
Prop up the chocolate bars in a circle around the inside of the slow cooker.
These should be able to stand up pretty well if you just jam them into the marshmallow. Plus, the marshmallows will be melting. *s’mores dip recipe imminent*
Dropping the last one into the middle is more for aesthetics, but you still could.
Dump another cup of the marshmallows into the circle of chocolate.
Get two more chocolate bars for the s’mores dip recipe.
Break the two bars up into another eight mini-bars. Do your best to not eat any of these while you go along, waiting for the s’mores dip to be read is worth it.
Next, do something similar to the first chocolate layer. It’s okay if these overlap. It’s too bad our crock pot isn’t see-through. Before impaling this with graham crackers for the s’mores, it would be pretty cool to look at it from the side.
The last one can go in the middle.
Dump another cup of marshmallows on this layer. Sorry about the blur, but once everything’s melted into the s’mores dip – it will be pretty blurring looking in real life, too.
Smooth out that layer of marshmallows on the top. At this point, it’s time to let the stack of marshmallows and Hershey’s chocolate stew for a little while. Good s’mores dip takes time.
Put the lid back on the slow cooker.
Set a timer for 15 minutes on the stove, microwave, phone or wherever for this part f the s’mores dip recipe.
Try not to get overwhelmed by all the wrappers that this recipe creates.
The very bottom layer will get a little bit crusty, but, by and large it should all stay fairly liquid. Not like the buffalo chicken cheese dip in the slow cooker where the very bottom got some serious crust.
At the end of the 15 minutes, grab your spatula to start mixing the marshmallows and chocolate around.
Don’t hesitate to just stab the spatula in there to start mixing it around.
Have the spoon handy, the marshmallows and chocolate will stick to the spatula excessively.
Scraping it off the spatula might be a challenge while you make this s’mores dip recipe.
It should really be starting to look like a big bunch of s’mores all smashed together.
Mmmmm…..s’mores dip…
Get another Hershey bar and break it up the same way you broke up the other pieces.
Layer those on top of the dip. You will notice that the marshmallow and chocolate s’mores mixture has sunk down a bit after mixing it around so the cooker is only full about halfway.
Grab those other six Hershey bars.
Start out with three of them for this part.
Break up those three pieces of chocolate the same way you did with the others.
Oh yea. Throw ’em all into the s’mores dip mix.
Pour the remaining marshmallows in the first bag into the cooker with all those pieces of chocolate.
Rip into the second bag of marshmallows. You didn’t think we’d stop at the first one, did you?
Try not to spill on the floor like I did.
Toss another cup of marshmallow in the top.
Then there were three. Take the last three Hershey bars and unwrap them.
Break them up just like the others. Now it’s time for the top layer.
Set the mini-bars in the slow cooker in a circle. This is like that other part further down, but these are like little chocolate people in a hot tub.
Look at ’em in there. They know what’s coming.
It’s fine to overlap a few in the top row. Once those are in there, go grab the marshmallow bag.
You’ll be dropping the final cup of marshmallows in at this point.
Pat them down with the spatula.
Tie off the marshmallow bag for another time. We’re done with it for this one.
Close it up, the slow cooker should be on “high” the whole time you’re putting things in, too.
Set the stove timer to 30 minutes for the last round of melting.
Grab those graham crackers once the time is almost up.
Nutrition facts on those graham crackers.
Ingredients on those graham crackers.
Your s’mores dip recipe should be showing some tasty s’mores dip at this point. Grab a couple graham crackers and dig in!
Went for the full dunk on my first try.
Successful s’mores dip.
Once it’s ready to sit on the buffet (or next to the fire, or the counter or wherever) set the cooker to low heat.
This is a pretty sugary s’mores dip recipe, so be sure to pace yourself if you plan on having a few graham crackers dipped in there. I burned the roof of my mouth pretty badly on the taste test because I dropped a glob of molten chocolate in and chomped down.
Eat responsibly.
